Acid-lovers that need pH 4.5-5.5 — do not lime their beds, ever. They partner with ericoid mycorrhizal fungi different from what most garden plants use, so standard mycorrhizal inoculants will not help. Use pine needle or oak leaf mulch to maintain acidity over time. Blueberries need cross-pollination from a different variety for best yields — plant at least two cultivars. Slow to establish but long-lived and low-maintenance once settled — think decades, not seasons.
